Ritwik, Saurav in final qualifying rounds

Ritwik Bhattacharya and national champion Saurav Ghosal stand just one win away from making the main draw of the 200,000 Kuwait Open squash tournament after advancing to the qualifying finals of the event here.

While Ritwik upset Australian Aaron Frankcomb 11-4, 11-9, 11-6 in 53 minutes, Ghosal breezed past local favourite Mohd Al-Tuwary 11-5, 11-0, 11-3.

8220;I played on these courts in the Asians, so that helped me. Besides, I have been doing lot of training in Holland and India,8221; Ritwik said. In the qualifying final round, Ritwik will take on American Julian Illingworth. On the other hand, Ghosal will be up against Englishman Daryl Selby.

8220;I have played Daryl twice 8212; in Qatar and Hong Kong 8212; and lost despite going 2-0 up. Hopefully, I can go one better this time,8221; said Ghosal.
