MUMBAI, FEB 6: Rishad Dotiwalla scored an unbeaten 107 to enable Banque IndoSuez to beat Abhyudaya Bank by 35 runs in the semi-finals of the Inter-Bank Junior cricket tournament at the Cross today.

Banque IndoSuez 243-8 (Salauddin Kadri 35, Rishad Dobiwalla 107 n.o. Mazhar Sagari 55) bt Abhyudaya Bank 212 (Yogesh Paralkar 50, Satish Rane 49; Mahesh Balakrishnan 3-33, Rishad Dotiwalla 3-21).

Punjab National Bank 208 (Sunil Parab 57, Guju Waghela 56, Ashok Nagvekar 30) lost to Bank of Baroda 209-4 (Dilip Barve 33, Deepak Salvi 46, Vikas Patil 62).

Saqlain adjudged best

Sunil Gavaskar, VivianRichards and Tony Greig have chosen Saqlain Mushtaq as the BPL Player of the Week for the period January 29 to February 4.

Saqlain struck at the Indian batting thrice in three innings, claiming a five-wicket haul, including Tendulkar’s wicket, in each one of them.

His match-winning performance in the first Test and a superb bowling display, again on the first day of the second Test against India, made him the strongest contender this week.

The other players considered were Sachin Tendulkar, for his brilliant battle in the Chennai Test, Shahid Afridi for contributing with a century to Pakistan’s win and Herschelle Gibbs whose 125 ensured South Africa’s triumph over West Indies. Saqlain will receive US $ 500 for becoming the BPL Player of the Week.

BMFC Award

The Newly formed Bengal Mumbai Football Club have started a monthly award scheme for the best team with a cash prize. There will be a best team of the year award. The scrutiny will be done by a panel comprising of Journalists with thesupervision of chairman Olympian SS Narayan. The panel consists of Rupak Shah (Anand Bazar Patrika), Nandkumar Marar (Mid-Day); Sunil Warier (Times of India); Mario Mendes (UNI); and Jaideep Basu (Hindustan Times).
