Rifampicin prices revised

NEW DELHI: Rifampicin drug prices have been revised upwards, according to a release by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers on Thursday. The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority NPPA has revised the price of bulk drug Rifampcin as per the August 25 notification.

The new price of Rifampicin will be Rs 4,807 per kilogramme, as against the earlier price of Rs 4,707 per kg notified on February 2, the release has added. The latest revision has been carried out following review applications filed by Lupin Chemicals Ltd and others. The review applications were filed to challenge the price fixed in February.

Accordingly, the government had directed NPPA to recalculate the price.
