GURDASPUR, Jan 24: The local police have busted a gang of robbers allegedly involved in a number of dacoities in Pathankot and neighbouring areas.

Senior Superintendent of Police Varinder Kumar told mediapersons, here today, that the police had arrested four members of the gang, called quot;Marshall Gangquot;, yesterday. One H.E. 36 grenade, four pistols, 16 cartridges, gold ornaments weighing about 60 grams, a cash of Rs 2,000 and a Yamaha motor cycle without a registration number, were recovered from their possession.

The SSP said that the four, identified as Rajesh alias Marshall, Rakesh, Rajat Kumar, and Fauja Singh alias Harvinder Singh all residents of Pathankot, were planning to throw a grenade in a crowded place on the Republic Day. The SSP disclosed that the four had confessed involvement in various incidents of chain-snatching and robberies. The SSP said that further investigation were on.
