The Magadh Divisional Commissioner’s report has indicted the chief priest of Maha Bodhi temple in Gaya, Bhadant Bodhipal, and former secretary Kalicharan Yadav for the cut mark on the Bodhi tree, which had created a furore.

In his inquiry report to the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Gaya, Divisional Commissioner K P Rammaiah has upheld the charges levelled against the two and urged investigation by a high-powered team into the wealth amassed by them. He has also asked for penal action against the accused. The matter is scheduled to come before the court on Thursday.

The court of Gaya’s Chief Judicial Magistrate had asked the Commissioner to hold an inquiry following a criminal case filed by a Hindu monk in Gaya, Arup Brahmachari.

Bodhipal, however, claimed innocence and said he would present his side before the court. Rammaiah refused to speak about the report.
