JALANDHAR, June 23: Sixteen panchayats are going for re-poll tomorrow in Jalandhar district.Of these, four Panchayats would witness repolling to elect both sarpanches and panches, while the remaining 12 will go for repolling to elect panches.The main reason for repolling in these Panchayats are discrepancies found in the ballot papers on the polling day June 21.A total of 183 sarpanches and 954 panches were elected unanimously in the 886 panchayats in the district.PATIALA: Repolling would be held in 18 villages of this district tomorrow.Repolling had been ordered in these panchayats due to the wrongly printed ballot papers and other technicalities.Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development)-cum-District Electoral Officer Patiala Harkesh Singh Sidhu while talking to ENS here said that all arrangements had been completed for the repoll. He said that the repolling would start at 8 a m, adding that all the results would be available by night.When his attention was drawn towards the case of Hyana Kalan village (Nabha block), where a contestant Dev Singh had allegedly complained that the result had not been declared, Sidhu said that he would contact the concerned BDO to get the whole position.A complaint regarding the missing of the contestant's name of Ahrukalan (Bhuner Heri block) from the ballot papers was also reported in the office of the district electoral officer at 5. 30 pm.Repolling for Sular Tulewal (Sanour block), and Niamatpur (Bhunerheri block) village panchayats has not been ordered due to some technicalities. Though earlier it was announced that these villages too would go for repoll along with the others.The repolling will take place tomorrow in Derichhinawal (for post of sarpanch), Harian Khurad (sarpanch and panches) and Chicharal/Karam Nagar (panches) of Patran block, Rampur (both of Ghanour block, Sahib Nagar Theri, Khansian (both for sarpanch and panches ), Devi Nagar Kheria Barna (for panches) of Sanour block, Chaunth Kutbanpur and Fatehgarh Chhana (panches) of Samana block, Ahru Kalan (panches), Chirwa, Rohar Jangir, Kata Kheri and Ganeshpur (for sarpanches and panches) of Bhuwnheri block and Nagla, near Dhakuli (pANCHES) AND dERA Bassi block.
