Chennai, Aug 15: There has been a splurge of junior tennis in the City. Some more tournaments are in the offing in the next 30 days. The India Pistons-KTC AITA Junior Tennis (under-18) Championship gets under way at the Krishnan Tennis Centre tomorrow.

Kedar Tembe, Kedar Shah (Maharashtra), N Mukundan (TN) and Sunil Kumar (Chandigarh) in the boys section and Gautam Sheetal (Karnataka), Liza Periera (Maharashtra), Sandhya Kanury (TN) and Geeta Manohar are the prominent players participating.

Qualifiers spotted: Jaidev Punjabi, Arjun Sharma (Karnataka), Ritesh Chitlingya (Rajasthan), Vivek Chandrasekar, AR Anand Kumar (AP), Chatwinder Singh (Chandigarh), Rahul Gandhi and Avinash Reddy (TN) made it to the main draw of boys section. On girls side, Priyanka Parekh, Riddhina Parekh, Ragini Vimal (WB), Rati Kumar (Maharashtra) and M Sunitha (AP) qualified.
