AHMEDABAD, Oct 17: The last round-robin tie of the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy day-night cricket tournament between India A and India B was washed out by incessant rains here at the Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium on Saturday.Umpires K S Giridharan (Bhilai) and Dr Shekhar Chaudhary (Calcutta) took one look at the ground, with water logged all over the outfield, before the scheduled start at 3.30 p.m. and called off the match. Yesterday’s match between India Seniors and India B was also washed out.

India A have amassed three points — two from their one-run victory over the Seniors on Thursday and one from today’s abandoned match — to enter the finals, as did India B, with two points from two abandoned matches, edging out the Seniors without having played a single match. However, with the overcast sky showing no signs of clearing up, Sunday’s final also appears to be in doubt.

The selection committee meeting, to select the team for the Dhaka Mini World Cup from October 24 to November 1, will be held heretomorrow at 10.00 a.m.
