VADODARA, June 16: The Vadodara division of the Western Railways is all geared up to face the monsoon. To begin with the division authorities have deployed its class IV staff, including gangsmen and linesmen, at the tracks to see that derailments, accidents or any untoward accident does not arise.

The deputed employees will also see that tracks do not sink once the monsoon sets in. They have also started laying concrete slabs instead of stone ones to prevent water accumulation on the tracks as also to prevent merging of two tracks. Authorities point out that as land between tracks on the Vadodara-Mumbai route was soft, priority was being given to laying concrete tracks in the area. The division has replaced earlier laid iron sleeper tracks with concrete ones.
