12 die in AP Mahanadu incidents

HYDERABAD: Twelve persons, including a close relative of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, were killed in separate incidents after Telugu Desam party’s rally and public meeting here on Friday night. Naidu’s brother-in-law and namesake, K Chandrababu Naidu, who supervised the arrangements of the public meeting `Mahanadu’, died at a private hospital this morning due to cardiac arrest. Two other persons of guntur died of heart attack while returning from the Mahanadu. Five persons were killed near Kadiri in Ananthapur district when the vehicle in which they were returning from the meeting collided with a jeep. Two others were killed in a similar mishap. One person had a fatal fall from a lorry, while another was hit by a speeding lorry at Andole, he said.

Model murder case

NEW DELHI: A city court on Saturday granted bail to Vikas Yadav, son of Rajya Sabha MP D P Yadav and an accomplice of prime accused Manu Sharma, in connection with theJessica Lal murder case here in South Delhi on April 30. The Metropolitan Magistrate granted bail to Yadav on personal bond of Rs 25,000 and two sureties of like amount.

UP mishap

HAMIRPUR: Four people were killed when a tractor in which they were travelling collided with Jhansi-bound passenger train at an unmanned crossing near Chaunk village here in Uttar Pradesh. The mishap occurred on Friday killing three persons on the spot while one person succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Border quake

NEW DELHI: An earthquake of slight intensity rocked the India-China border region on Friday, Meteorological Department said here. The quake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale occurred at 1133 hrs (IST), a Met release said. The epicentre of the tremor was 35.9 degree north latitude and 77.6 degree east longitude, it added.

CPI leader killed

SAMASTIPUR: CPI leader Sudip Mishra was shot dead by some suspected criminals at Chakra Bidolia village in Samastipur district on Friday. Mishrawas waylaid by the outlaws when he was coming to his village.
