Match-fixing: Enough proof found against Salim Malik

KARACHI: Investigators probing corruption in Pakistan Cricket have found enough evidence to recommend action against former National Captain Salim Malik, a lawyer said today. “There is enough direct evidence against Salim Malik. I don’t know what the Judicial Commission Judge will do, but with whatever has come against him, there’s more than sufficient to prove his involvement in betting and match-fixing,” Ali Sibtai Fazli, a lawyer for the Pakistan Cricket Board, said from Lahore.

Shetty murder case

MUMBAI: The police arrested one Avinash Balkrishna Bodke in connection with the killing of Dr Deepak Shetty of the Sridevi Hospital, Kalyan on October 16. The arrest was made on the basis of information obtained in an interrogation after which a trap was laid outside Bandra station. Bodke is also connected with several offences in the city.

Vimla Bajaj dead

MUMBAI: Vimla Bajaj, wife of the late noted industrialist Ramkrishna Bajaj, expired at the Bombay Hospital at 11.00 p.m. on Saturday. She is survived by three sons Shekhar, Madhur and Neeraj and nephews Rahul and Shishr. All the family members were by her side at the time of her death.

She had been suffering from a heart problem for some time and succumbed to cardiac and neurological complications. Born in Calcutta, she was the daughter of Laxman Prasad Poddar and Urmila Devi Poddar. The funeral will leave at 3.30 p.m. on Sunday for Banganga.
