
Army copter crash
SHIMLA: An army helicopter crashed near Sapni village in Sangla area of Kinnaur district on Monday. Two persons were feared killed in the crash. However, it was not known whether the deceased included the pilot. More details were awaited.
Situation tense
MADURAI: Tension prevailed in Melavalavu village near Melur when some persons belonging to a community threw stones at a bus injuring four people Sunday evening. The incident was a sequel to an altercation between two persons who had come out on bail in connection with the murder of six Dalits in the area last year.
Militants killed
JAMMU: Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Doda district of Jamp;K on Monday. Police sources told UNI here Monday morning that troops of 25 Rashtriya Rifles, conducting search operations in Dhakki jungles of Thatri tehsil in Doda district, were ambushed by the militants. The troops retaliated, killing the two militants.
Hansatake-off
BANGALORE: India8217;s first all-composite two-seater trainer aircraft, Hansa, is expected to fly at the third international Bangalore air show in December this year, according to the National Aerospace Laboratories NAL here. The first Hansa is expected to roll out within three or four months.
Metro rail fire
CALCUTTA: Operations of metro railway between Dum Dum and Central stations remained suspended from 0700 hrs till 1025 hrs today due to fire at a power sub-station in Shyambazar. Though the services were resumed later, trains were not stopping at Shyambazar where the restoration work was still in progress.
