
ISRO launches Rohini rocket
BANGALORE: The Indian Space Research Organisation ISRO has successfully launched its largest sounding rocket 8211; Rohini RH-560 MK-II, carrying five scientific payloads, developed by German and other European science laboratories, from Sriharikota.
The rocket, launched at 2000 hours yesterday, was the last of the three sounding rocket launches intended to study the dynamics of the equatorial ionosphere during the occurrence of 8220;Spread-F phenomena8221;, an ISRO release said here today. It carried a total payload of about 127 kg to a predetermined altitude of 424 km.
Intruders killed
JAMMU: Security forces killed nine Pakistani intruders and recovered a huge cache of arms in separate incidents in Jammu since yesterday, officials today said. Nine Pakistani intruders were killed by BSF troops in Ramgarh sub-sector along the international border when one of its patrol challenged them late last evening leading to firing from the Pakistani post of GalarTanda.
Tremor on border
NEW DELHI: An earthquake of slight intensity shook the Arunachal Pradesh-China border in the wee hours today, the meteorological office here said. The quake, which occurred at 0301 hours, measured 4.5 on the Richter scale and had its epicentre 28.2 degree north latitude and 93.2 degree east longitude, the met office said.
