Railways announce productivity-linked bonus

NEW DELHI: The railways has announced 53 days8217; productivity-linked bonus to its non-gazetted lower group employees for 1997-98. The bonus would benefit 15 lakh non-gazetted railway group B, C and D employees.

NEW DELHI: Onions from Iran and Dubai are expected to hit the market in the capital in three days time and provide relief to the consumers hit by sharp rise in the vegetable prices. Onion prices have shot up recently to Rs 40 a kg at retail outlets in view of rains damaging stocks in growing centres of Maharashtra and Gujarat. Following the rise, the Centre decided to import 10,000 tonnes of onions.

New Goa CLP leader

PANAJI: The former industries minister, Luizinho Faleiro, was on Monday elected the new leader of Congress Legislature Party CLP in Goa succeeding Pratapsingh Rane. Faleiro was unanimously elected the leader at the CLP meeting, the Congress high command emissary, R L Bhatia, who was here to oversee the electionprocess, announced at a press conference.
