Teachers8217; demand on arrears

NEW DELHI: The striking college and university teachers today welcomed the government8217;s offer to pay salary arrears in one installment as 8220;a big step forward8221;, but accused it of misleading them on many technical points regarding their demands.

8220;If the government is serious about giving 100 per cent arrears from January 1, 1996 in one installment, we will think about withdrawing our three-week strike,8221; All India Federation of University and College Teachers8217; Organisations AIFUCTO president K K Theckedath told reporters here.
