One held in Jain Muni murder case

AURANGABAD: Twenty-two days after Jain Muni Sampat Maharaj was murdered by suspected dacoits at the Guru Ganesh Nagar Ashram here, the city police have finally managed to arrest a person in connection with the case. However, the police have only revealed that arrested person, Bhikchand Pipada worked as a supervisor at the Ashram since the last eight years. Though the case has already been assigned to the CID, the city police is still independently handling the case.

NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet tonight constituted a four-member ministerial committee to study the final report of the Jain commission and the Action Taken Report raising the possibility of a delay in tabling the report in Parliament before the end of the current session. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Madan Lal Khurana said after the Cabinet meeting that the ministerial committee will be headed by Home Minister L K Advani.HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, Information andBroadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj, and Civil Aviation Minister Anant Kumar will be the other members of the committee.

Iranian missile

NEW YORK: Iran test-launched a medium-range missile capable of striking Israel, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, the New York Times reported on Thursday. Unnamed US officials said a US spy satellite detected the launch early Wednesday and that analysts were studying data about the missile, which they believe Iran bought from North Korea, the Times said.
