Qatar will probably ignore the Iraqi government8217;s request to extradite Saddam Hussein8217;s wife, said a member of Saddam8217;s legal team in the Gulf state on Monday.

Najeeb al-Nauimi, a Qatari attorney, said Saddam8217;s wife, Sajida Khairallah Tulfah, who is in her 60s, would continue to live quietly in Doha, the capital of Qatar, where she has been granted asylum.

8216;8216;They want to make a point,8217;8217; al-Nauimi said of Iraq8217;s announcement on Sunday that it is pursuing the extradition of the former dictator8217;s wife and eldest daughter Raghad who have lived in exile since his April 2003 overthrow. 8216;8216;We8217;re not taking it seriously. There is no legal case. It8217;s just political propaganda,8217;8217; al-Nauimi said from Doha.

Jordan8217;s Prime Minister Marouf al-Bakhit said on Sunday that his government had not received an extradition request for Raghad, who lives the kingdom in exile, and added that she was not engaging in any political activities in Jordan.

8216;8216;Raghad Saddam Hussein and her children are in Jordan for purely humanitarian reasons, hosted and protected by the Hashemite royal family as foreigners,8217;8217; al-Bakhit said.
