
Bangalore, May 24: In A match which came to life late in the second half, Punjab amp; Sind Bank split points with Services sharing two goals in the Punjab and Sind Bank 58th Senior National Hockey championship at the Sports Authority of India South Centre on Saturday.
Harvinder Singh8217;s reverse flick during the side8217;s seventh penalty corner in the 56th minute gave the Bankmen the lead, which was nullified by Daniel Ravi minutes later.
The draw left Services with seven points at the end of their engagements in the pool F league. PSB are on four points with a match against Chandigarh on the morrow, in which they will need a win by at least seven goals to pip Services for a place in the quarterfinals. Services have scored 21 goals and conceded two as against PSB, who have scored 13 and let one.
In other matches, in pool H, UP pipped Bengal 3-2 and CRPF routed Manipur 12-4.
The PSB-Services match was a clash of different styles. The former adapted the short passing pattern, while the latter resorted more to long hits.
The styles, in fact, proved to be the bane of the respective sides. PSB forwards were woeful in their trapping, while Services found the rival defence difficult to beat.
