Joint office
The first joint office of the municipal corporations of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, who have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Bremen (Germany) for exchange of information on civic projects, will be formally inaugurated here on November 20.

The function will be held at the Balgandharva Rangmandir. Dr Bruhn, Consul General of Federal Republic of Germany, Gunther Hilliges, head of the State office for development cooperation, Bremen, MP Suresh Kalmadi, Mayors Vatsala Andekar, Hanumanth Bhosale, and municipal commissioners of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Rajiv Agarwal, Ganesh Thakur will be present. The office has been named as `International office-Agenda 21”.

Reverence day
World Foundation on Reverence for All Life will organise a conference at Holiday Inn to celebrate the `Reverence day’ on November 22. Industries minister Leeladhar Dake and Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, director general of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, will be the chief guests while Dada J. P. Vaswani will preside over the function.

Heart surgery
Parvatibai Sheti Manjule, a resident of Kharadwadi in Pimpri, has sought financial assistance to enable her undergo heart surgery. Cheques should be issued in favour of Poona Medical Foundation, post box. no. 70, Pune-1.

Elected
M D Borawankar has been elected president of Pune chapter of Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering. V K Deshpande and R F Gandhi are secretary and treasurer, respectively.

Best letter
Save India Association has announced three prizes for best letters published in any language newspapers from Pune. The Senior Citizens Organisation, Navsahyadri Parisar, has sponsored a special prize for the letter on theme of welfare of the aged. The letter writers should send the copies of their letters published before January 15, 1999, to Cdr. M.J. Karnik (Retd.), 41 National Housing Society, Pune-7.

Gazhals concert
Rescue, a voluntary organisation, will organise a fund raising concert, `Friendship’, featuring Pankaj Udhas and Anup Jalota, on a common stage at the Residency Club at 8 p.m. on December 9. Zalota is a founder of Rescue. Contribution passes will be available for couples at Rs 750, Rs 500 and Rs 300.
