Pune City impress

PUNE, Sept 24: Pune City were in sparkling form in the Pune University Inter-Zonal football tournament, registering a cent percent record on the opening day at the Pune University ground today.

In the morning session they scored a 6-3 verdict over Ahmednagar with Dinesh Dravid and Abdulaziz Mohammed making hay with two goals apiece. Nilesh Natu and Alistair Mendonca rounded up the tally. Ahmednagar on the other hand could only match Pune City upto the half-way stage, as both shared four goals. The goals came via Lalremenga 11th minute and R Fernandes. In the second-half Lalremenga managed another, which was not enough.

Earlier, Pune City defeated Nashik 2-0 with goals via Siddharth Gharpure 20th and Alistair Mendonca 25th.

Pune District was the only other other team to score a win in the four matches completed during the day, defeating Ahmednagar 1-0 through Prashant Sasane8217;s strike in the 48th minute. Nashik and Pune District split points after both played to a goalless tie in the inaugural tie.
