PMC `finally’decides to repair pool
The Pune municipal administration on Friday announced closure of the Chhatrapati Shahu swimming tank at Somwar Peth for next eight days for emergency repairs in the wake of a swimmer sustaining injuries inside the waters on Friday morning.

The decision comes close on the heels of the drowning death of a close relative of Mayor Vatsala Andekar at the tank which led to uproarious scene at the general body meetings during the past couple of days.

Fourteen-year-old Faiyaz Sheikh injured his leg while swimming at the tank compelling Additional Municipal Commissioner Deepak Kapoor to initiate repairs on the war footing. Kapoor also ordered the ward office, which looks after the maintenance, to find out the cause of the injury.
