PMC restores timing at dispensaries
The Pune municipal administration has initiated steps to increase the number of resident medical officers (RMOs) at civic hospitals and has restored the old dispensary timings to ensure better services to the common citizens.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Deepak Kapoor has sought the State Government’s sanction to creating 15 new posts of RMOs even as the standing committee recently accorded sanction to a waiting list of nine medical officers (MOs). Those on the waiting list would be recruited whenever the serving MOs proceed on leave.

Kapoor has further issued orders to MOs with post graduate degrees to extend their specialised services to indoor patients, besides, performing their regular duties at the out-patient department. This was being done since the common citizens availing of the services at the civic hospitals were denied specialised treatment. At present only the RMOs attended to the indoor patients, according to Kapoor.

Meanwhile, the municipal administration decided to keep the civic dispensaries open from 8 am to 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm after strong opposition to its earlier decision to restrict the timings to a single shift between 9 am and 1 pm. In case of a few dispensaries, the timings would be from 9 am and 5.30 pm to suit the demand of the locals.

Parking ban planned
The traffic wing of Pune police is considering a proposal to impose a total ban on vehicular parking in front of the main entrance of the Punjab National Bank on the Mahatma Gandhi Road in Pune Cantonment area.

The objections to the proposal should be send to the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch) at Sadhu Vaswani Road within ten days, a press communique issued here today said.
