Forgive each other: Dada
Dada J P Vaswani laid the foundation stone of the Kriplani and Kundnani Eye Institute and Baba Gangaram Heart Institute at the Sadhu Vaswani Mission campus on Monday. As many as 156 birds were released to mark the birthday celebrations of Dada while 4000 people partook of the langar at the mission.
Dada urged the people to forgive each other as forgiveness is the golden key to peace. He said that good health was not merely absence of disease by a general feeling of well-being, happiness and peace. 8220;Eat in moderation and carry peace within your heart,8221; was Dada8217;s message. The mission has decided to observe August 2 as 8220;Return Good for Evil Day.8221;
Dr Trehan, director of Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre, New Delhi was the chief guest on the occasion while S G Mengani, director, Inlaks and Budhrani hospital was present.
Plea to NHRC on stray dog menace
8220;Animal rights is fine, but what about human rights,8221; asks Qaneez Sukhrani, joint secretary of the National Society for Clean Cities, which has sent a petition to the National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi, pleading that the menace of stray dogs in Pune has become 8220;unmanageable.8221;
The letter, addressed to NHRC chairman Justice M N Venkatachaliah, states: 8220;The stray, mangy and rabid dog menace has long reached unmanageable proportion in Pune. The corporations and cantonments claim to be bound by law that prevents them from eradicating these strays in a humane manner. Dog protection organisations, specifically Blue Cross Society and Society for Prevention of Cruelty of Animals, kick up a furore every time the topic of dog population control is brought up, while doing very little.8221;
Sukhrani adds: 8220;Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker Najma Heptullah has recently written to you about a strategy to be put in place with a view to controlling this aggressive menace to innocent human beings. The general body of the Pune Municipal Corporation has questioned the civic administration on its failure to curb strays.8221;
The letter also mentions: 8220;As recent as June 25, the Bombay High Court passed an order permitting killing of stray dogs as a last resort. Alarming statistics about anti-rabies cases and hard facts about human fatalities should warrant such an action without further procrastination. Stray dogs are not an endangered species that dog lovers should go so ballistic. In today8217;s times, human life remains more endangered.8221;
