BARODA, August 4: Petroleum Sports Control Board PSCB men and Railway Sports Control Board RSCB women retained their team titles in the 28th All India Inter-Institutional Table Tennis Championship, here, today.

PSCB defeated RSCB 3-0 to annex the title in the men8217;s section, while RSCB beat PSCB 3-2 in the women8217;s summit clash.

National champion Chetan Baboor of PSCB started the rout, overcoming Bhushan Thakur of RSCB in three games 18-21, 21-11, 22-20. This was followed by former National Champions, S Raman and Arup Basak, both of PSCB, trouncing Ganesh Kundu and S Dutta of in straight games to make it 3-0.

Dutta who replaced the debarred Nupur Santra was no match to Basak losing tamely in striaght games 21-12, 21-12.

In the women8217;s section, RSCB dominated with two time National champion Montu Ghosh winning the first match of the tie against MS Mythili of PSCB.

However, National champion Kasturi Chakroborthy and Mithu Pal lost the next two matches. But Kasturi came back to defeat Mythili in agruelling fourth match to level at 2-2. Ghosh made short work of Bhuvaneshwari in the decider 22-20, 21-16 to give RSCB the title.

The main draw of the Open individual event will start tomorrow.

This is the seventh Inter-Institional Title that the PSCB men8217;s team have won and the fifth that the RSCB women have annexed.
