PATIALA, June 25: Pepsu Roadways Transport Corporation PRTC depot workers today came out in large numbers to join the protest dharna being organised by the PRTC Workers8217; Union AITUC here.

Carrying red flags and placards, they raised anti-government and anti-management slogans. The workers accused the government of having failed to safeguard their interests.

Union president Giani Tejinder Singh alleged that the management had tried to weaken the union by spreading rumours in order to create sharp differences between the union president and general secretary. He said that the PRTC has suffered financial losses to the tune of Rs 20 crore because of the wrong policies pursued by the state government.

Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal, general secretary of the union, alleged that the state government has adopted a policy to encourage private transport in the state because of which the corporation is suffering losses.
