
After a long wait, officers of the Provincial Police Service PPS will finally get an opportunity to enhance their policing skills and interact with their counterparts in UK, USA and Australia.
The state government has decided to send the PPS officers in three batches for a training session to the three countries. The first batch comprises 50 PPS officers includes 20 additional superintendents of police and 30 deputy superintendents of police. The team composition for the other two batches is yet to be finalised.
The training will cover effective policing, mob management, intelligence gathering, effective communication, surveillance networking and disaster management.
According to sources, before the team starts its training, it will have to undergo a special programme for a fortnight at the Police Training College PTC in Moradabad to learn the basics of advanced techniques of policing.
The first batch will start their training at the Royal Institute of Public Administration, UK, from January 26 to February 6. The second batch of officers will visit US and the third Australia.
8220;We welcome the government8217;s decision. This will definitely enhance the efficiency of our officers and the exposure will help in strengthening our force,8221; said Jugal Kishore, Additional Superintendent of Police Traffic, Varanasi, an office-bearer of the PPS officers association.
8220;This is for the first time that the government has thought of giving advance training to the PPS officers. Previously, only IPS officers were sent for such training,8221; said SP Srivastava, Additional Director General of Police.
Sources said that the Association of Provincial Police Service officers had for long been demanding for such training.
