A zoom for your iPhone

The feature-rich iPhone lacks one particularly handy tool,a zoom lens for its camera. Enter the Camera Zoom app that adds a 4X digital zoom to the iPhone. The app is easy enough to usejust move a slider on the screen to the desired magnification and touch the camera picture. It works like other digital zooms,by blowing up just a portion of the picture you see in the viewfinder. That does mean that the more you zoom,the worse the picture gets. While you can get the same effect by blowing up a picture on your computer,Camera Zoom has one major advantage: its right there in your camera.

Another Apple surprise?

The rumours mill is working overtime. Apple is expected to announce a new iPhone at the Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday. What to expect? More memory with the iPhone now coming in 16 and 32GB variants; a sharp and energy efficient OLED screen; improved RAM and performance; video recording and editing capabilities; Wi-Fi movie and TV downloads; media transfers during calls; a digital compass and turn-by-turn navigation.
