Uruguay beat Mexico 1-0

Uruguay beat Mexico 1-0 on Tuesday to finish top of Group A and advance to the second round of the World Cup.

Uruguay beat Mexico 1-0 on Tuesday to finish top of Group A and advance to the second round of the World Cup.

Uruguay,World Cup winners in 1930 and 1950,scored the only goal of the game two minutes before halftime when Luis Suarez headed in a long right wing cross at the far post.

Uruguay finished with seven points from their three games in Group A and with an unblemished defensive record.

Mexico finished with four points in a group also including hosts South Africa and France.
