Rahul,Dinda restrict Windies

Some tight bowling by India A restricted West Indies A to 69 for the loss of two wickets

Some tight bowling by India A restricted West Indies A to 69 for the loss of two wickets in the second four day Test at Arnos Vale in St Vincent.

The wicket had some grass on it,but it was not of the live variety, and is expected to assist the spinners later on. For the West Indies, there was just the lone change, with Justin Guillen drafted in as a replacement for the injured Leon Johnson at the top of the order. India, keeping the pitch in mind, drafted in spinner Akshay Darekar in place of paceman Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first, but suffered an early blow when pace bowler Ashok Dinda had Justin Guillen caught brillianrlt by Manoj Tiwary at short mid on. Dinda and Shami Ahmed gave little away in their early spells,as the hosts went into drinks at 20 for one in 14 overs. Dinda sent down five maiden overs of his seven, going for just five runs in his overs for the wicket.

After the break, spin was introduced from both ends,as Rahul Sharma and left-arm spinner Akshay Darekar came on. India soon reaped the benefits of keeping things tight as Donovon Pagon inside edged on to his stumps when he tried to heave Sharma over the infield. Sharma went for 19 runs in his eight overs, having picked up the one-drop.

Kraigg Braithwaite however held fort and even played a few crisp shots, including an on-drive of Darekar for a boundary. The opener remained unbeaten on 23 when the sides went to lunch without further losses. The session was not without further drama though,as skipper Cheteshwar Pujara suffered a nasty collision with spinner Darekar and the latter departed clutching his shoulder.

Brief scores: West Indies A 63 for two in 29 overs Kraigg Braithwaite not out 23,Ashok Dinda 1/5,Rahul Sharma 1/19 vs India A at lunch on Day One.
