Katas Raj temple an ‘archaeological asset’: Pak

The Pakistan government has directed authorities to expedite the rehabilitation of the famous Katas Raj temple,describing it as an ‘archaeological asset’.

The Pakistan government has directed authorities to expedite the rehabilitation of the famous Katas Raj temple,describing it as an ‘archaeological asset’.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Babar Awan,who visited the temple at Chakwal in Punjab province on Monday,directed officials from the religious affairs department to expedite work rehabilitate and renovate the shrine.

Officials told Awan that Rs 109 million had been allocated for the renovation of the temple. He was also briefed on the progress made so far in the project.

Awan visited different parts of the temple and said he was impressed by its architecture and design. He described the temple as an archaeological asset and said a boundary wall should be built to protect the historical shrine.

Islam is a divine religion that respects worship and sacred places of other religions,Awan said.
