VADODARA, Sept 21: In order to prevent sale of liquor in the tribal belt of Dahod and Godhra during the on-going Ganapati festival, the police administration of the two districts together caught Indian Made Foreign Liquor IMFL worth around Rs 33 lakhs during a campaign this week.

According to Special Inspector General of Police, Vadodara Range, D D Tuteja, a police team led by Godhra Sub Divisional Police Officer B S Bharada caught a truck in Kasudi village of the district carrying 22,176 bottles of various brands of IMFL valued at Rs 20.40 lakhs along with the truck MGD 5911 worth Rs 7 lakhs.

In another case, 7999 bottles of IMFL worth Rs 3.12 lakhs was seized by a team of Shehra police from a house in Labhi village. According to Tuteja, no one could be arrested in the two cases because the culprits escaped into the adjoining woods when they saw the police approaching them from a distance.

In yet another seizure, 385 containers of IMFL valued at Rs 4.27 lakhs and the truck HR 38 BJ 6348 carrying it, worth Rs 4 lakhs, was impounded by the Dahod police from Chakalia outpost under Limdi Police Station.

Another 10 containers of IMFL worth Rs 18,000 was seized from an autorickshaw in Mudaroda village under Limdi Police Station.
