Bogged down by the dues that are running into crores of rupees in the form of rent against the properties given on lease to various business houses and organisations in the city, the Pune Municipal Corporation PMC has recently sent notices to these properties asking them to vacate the shops if they are unable to pay the arrears and rent as per the existing ratable value of the occupied land.

The civic land acquisition department issued these notices. In the notices, the PMC has pointed out that the shops are occupied despite the lease period has come to an end and that these shops need to be auctioned, therefore action is being taken as per the government regulation regarding the land distribution. The notices also mention that if the shop occupants are ready to pay the rent as per the new ratable value of the land and pays the outstanding charges till the bidding process is over, the concerned shop owner could be given a continuation on the same location or else the occupant will have to hand over the occupied land to PMC.
