Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today stood by Finance Secretary Adarsh Kishore against insinuation made by Revolutionary Socialist Party leader Abani Roy. The RSP leader, who is the member of Left-UPA coordination committee, in a letter to Prime Minister demanded a CBI inquiry against Kishore for alleged financial impropriety. Roy, subsequently, released the letter to the TV channels and the media.

Official sources said that Cabinet Secretary B.K. Chaturvedi called up Kishore to convey that the Prime Minister wanted him to continue business as usual and not heed to the allegations made against him by the maverick RSP leader.

Ignoring the allegations, the PM had also conveyed that the government had its own mechanism of assessing its officials and does not need to rely on extraneous sources for information.

Along with the Prime Minister, FM P. Chidambaram has also called up Kishore. Terming the allegations as ‘unfortunate’, Chidambaram told the Finance Secretary that he would personally meet him tomorrow.
