Pinarayi group mounts another probe against VS

In the latest twist to the factional feud in the state CPI(M), the anti-VS Achuthanandan faction led by state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has got the party state committee to have a panel to probe who instigated pro-VS demonstrations and also got seven CPI(M) district committees to pass resolutions demanding a poll ticket for VS, during the interregnum when the party had decided to put him out of the fray before the Assembly poll.

A three-member committee led by known Pinarayi loyalist and Kannur district secretary M.V. Govindan has been asked to do the probe.

This move to pick on VS’s supporters was barely a week after the same state committee had acknowledged VS’s role in ensuring a Left landslide. Its resolution said the ‘‘struggles waged by the Opposition and its leader Comrade VS within and outside the Assembly’’ had contributed to the Left victory.
