
VADODARA, OCT 18: Close on the heels of a petrol pump loot in Gorwa on October 14 last, another petrol pump was looted by unidentified miscreants outside the Chhani village Gurudwara late last night.
According to the Chhani police, eight robbers in the age group of 20 to 25 years, armed with sticks and iron rods, descended on the Arvind Petrol Pump around 11 p.m, when it was about to close. 8220;The assailaint started beating up whoever came in their way. They even beat up a customer, Ambubhai, who had come for petrol for his scooter8221;, said Kanubhai Ranchod Walanj, one of the cashiers at the petrol pump. He said that four of the employees were beaten up and Rs 17,600 looted.
Walanj said that the miscreants escaped into the bushes nearby taking advantage of the darkness. While four of them were wearing only underwear, the remaining four were wearing trousers and shirts.
Walanj said that three of his colleagues, including two fillers, sustained minor injuries and were discharged from the hospital after first aid. The assailants seemed to hail from urban areas, said Walanj.
Miscreants, unlike the Gorwa petrol pump loot, did not use red chilly powder or sharp-edged weapons, suggesting that it could be another gang. This is the third incidence of petrol pump loot in the city in the last month. A petrol pump in Undera village under Gorwa police station was looted in the first week of this month.
