
CHANDIGARH, Sept 29: Punjab Engineering College PEC Chandigarh will be organising a two-day technical festival from October 8.
Dean Student Welfare Harish Bhatia said it would be the first of its kind at PEC. He said: quot;We have invited students from various engineering colleges of the country. Students from Indian Institutes of Technology would also be participating in the festival, and the main thrust would be on technical papers. This is being done to encourage students to write project reports. A contest for software development would also be held.quot;
PEC, however, would not be organising the PEC Festival this year because of the technical festival.
quot;Nevertheless, cultural evenings and literary events will be organised by PEC students during the festival. We will also screen films for the students and the guests,quot; said Bhatia.
The college would also be inviting eminent engineers and professionals in the field for delivering lectures and conducting workshops.
More use of Hindi in offices stressed
The role and importance of Hindi as the national language was stressed upon during the Hindi Week, observed by the Bureau of Indian Standards BIS. Several competitions were organised during the week and cash prizes as well as certificates given to the winners. BIS deputy director V.K.
