PCS officer arrested on dowry charges
A Provincial Civil Service officer of Uttar Pradesh, Manoj Kumar, serving as an Officer on Special Duty with the Meerut Development Authority was arrested on Monday in a case of dowry harassment.

A Provincial Civil Service PCS officer of Uttar Pradesh, Manoj Kumar, serving as an Officer on Special Duty OSD with the Meerut Development Authority MDA was arrested on Monday in a case of dowry harassment.
The case was registered by Kumar8217;s wife at the Sihanigate police station of Ghaziabad on Sunday. Renu had accused him of assaulting her for the past several weeks.
SP City Ghaziabad, Vijay Bhushan said: 8220;A PCS officer of 1991 batch, Manoj Kumar had joined as OSD two months ago. His wife lodged the FIR yesterday and subsequently the arrest was made.8221;
Homeguard dies in Rae Bareli cracker explosion
Home Guard Constable Rakesh, who was injured in a cracker explosion on Sunday, succumbed to his injuries in Rae Bareli on Monday. The constable was among the six injured in an explosion which occurred on the Oonchahar police station premises. The incident took place after about 35 kg of crackers the explosive substances seized from a manufacturing unit by the police exploded.
A request has been sent to the government seeking an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh. Efforts were also being made to sanction widow pension to the constable8217;s wife.
