PC buyers prefer assemblers

NEW DELHI, SEPT 5: State-owned Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited VSNL continues to dominate the internet market with most of the new users preferring its service, despite the entry of many private players, according to an industry survey conducted by infotech magazine PC Quest has said.

The survey covered 1,500 users and decision makers, and included a field survey in seven cities. Satyam Online was the second choice of subscribers.

Most of the new home personal computer PC buyers preferred assembled computers to established brand names, while Compaq attracted most of the office PC buyers, it was found. IBM and Hewlett Packard were preferred after Compaq.
