Union minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers and Lok Janashakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan was flown to New Delhi today after a brief hospitalisation here for a suspected mild heart attack. Doctors said his condition was stable.

In Delhi Paswan will be admitted to Escorts Hospital. The hospital sent a team of doctors led by Dr N. Chandra to accompany the 59 year old political leader.

Paswan was rushed this morning to the ICU of a heart hospital here after he complained of uneasiness, chest pain and congestion. 8216;8216;His condition is stable and there is no reason for panic,8217;8217; said Dr A.K. Thakur, the hospital8217;s medical director and a noted cardiologist.

Dr Thakur, however, did not rule out the possibility of a 8220;mild stroke8221;.

8216;8216;We are allowing the patient to go to New Delhi at the request of his family,8217;8217; the doctor added.

At the airport, before being flown to New Delhi in the evening, Paswan talked to his supporters and assured them that he was fine and they need not worry. A host of LJP leaders and even Governor Buta Singh reached the hospital here to inquire about his health.
