MALEGAON: The Congress received a major setback in Maharashtra when senior party leader, Harilalsheth Asmar along with several other Congressmen in the Powerloom township joined the Shiv Sena here on Tuesday. Among other prominent Congressmen who joined Sena were former MLA Runza Punja Gangurde, Nandgaon municipal council chief Habib Shaikh, former ZP member Dilip Inamdar, and Yogesh Aher.

Jaya8217;s demand

CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Jayalalitha, has demanded a judicial probe into Tuesday8217;s killing of an AIADMK activist, allegedly by CPI workers at Sorakkudy village near Kumbakonam. Eight others were injured in the attack. In a statement here, she charged the police with failing to settle appropriately the week-long dispute between CPI and AIADMK workers. Though complaints had been lodged against 30 CPI workers, only one had been arrested so far, she alleged. However, 14 AIADMK volunteers had been held based on the complaint given by CPI workers, she claimed.
