CHANDIGARH, June 9: The All India Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association today took a strong note of the allegation of retired officers of paramilitary forces regarding discrimination with them vis a vis Army jawans and said quot;the paramilitary forces personnel were better placed than jawans of the Army with regard to service conditions and other allowances.quot; In a release here, Association chairman Bhim Sen Sehgal pointed out that the paramilitary forces personnel serve their full term up to 58 years of age, whereas the Army jawans are discharged after completion of 17 years of service.
quot;The Army jawans need rehabilitation. But the PMFs enjoy all service benefits including better pension,quot; he said, adding quot;otherwise also, the service of paramilitary forces are governed by the Central Civil Service Regulations, whereas those of the Army jawans are under the Army Act which includes stringent measures.quot;
The Association urged the central government to give the Army jawans all the facilities enjoyed by the PMF personnel, specially the extension of the full term of service to 58 years.
