Vitthalbhai Pandya, father of slain BJP leader Haren Pandya, has decided to contest as an independent candidate from Gandhinagar to defeat L K Advani, 8216;8216;an outsider8217;8217;. The idea, says he, flashed in his mind on Friday morning. He will file his nomination on Monday.
The decision will make the contest in Gandhinagar interesting to watch because Pandya says he has been promised support from disgruntled elements in both the BJP and the Congress. 8216;8216;Advani has maintained criminal silence and not said a thing against the murder of Haren despite my writing four letters to him in one year,8217;8217; said Pandya vowing to disrupt Adani8217;s Bharat Uday Yatra.
He says Advani had kept mum also at the time when Haren was denied Assembly ticket last time 8216;8216;though I am not personally against Advani8217;8217;. He said Advani was an outsider who seldom took care of his constituency.
Terming the BJP as chameleon, Pandya says it sends different signals in different states and thus changed colours to suit the convenience.
8216;8216;There is no going back on this and I will not withdraw from the contest,8217;8217; he said when told what if the BJP intervened to ask him to withdraw.
