
Are cricket umpires in awe of the Aussies, who seem to get all the favourable decisions? The jury is till out on that. Of late, top umpire Billy Bowden8217;s decisions are causing an uproar and much of it is being led by his own countrymen.

8226; Bowden declined an appeal against Matthew Hayden, who had played back and was hit on the back pad in front of middle stump, sparking an outburst from left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori during the first ODI on Saturday.
8226; The same umpire had refused an appeal for caught behind off the same batsman when replays showed the opening batsman had gloved a leg-side delivery from Kyle Mills to wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum.
8226; In the same match, Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar gave Stephen Fleming out lbw for five when replays suggested the delivery from Brett Lee was missing legstump.
FAMILIARITY BREEDS CONTEMPT?
Bowden has umpired Australia in 13 ODIs and six Tests since the start of last year.
