Michael Owen finally scored the goal he had been dreaming of for Real Madrid on Tuesday but he was modest enough to give goalkeeper Iker Casillas the credit for his side8217;s 1-0 victory over Dynamo Kiev.

Owen, making his first Champions League appearance since a close-season move from Liverpool for 12 million euros 15 million, tucked in a cross from Ronaldo in the 35th minute to give Real the lead in their Group B match.

8220;It was a cracking ball from Ronaldo and I managed to stay on the blind side of the keeper and tap it in,8221; the England striker said. 8220;To score settled me right down. I8217;ve been waiting for that moment since I came here.

8220;It was a great feeling to score here. To score the winner in a Champions League game in front of your home fans was special.8221;

Real had plenty of chances but Ronaldo and Raul were both ineffective and the team needed a series of brilliant saves from Casillas to clinch the points. 8220;Iker made a couple of fantastic saves tonight and he more than me probably got us the three points,8221; Owen said.

Owen had enjoyed little luck in front of goal in his six previous appearances for Real, four of them as a substitute. He now believes he is settling in to the squad and to life in a new country. 8220;Since I8217;ve been here things have slowly got better,8221; Owen said. 8220;It8217;s not easy to come to a new country and be stuck in a hotel room, but things are starting to come together on and off the pitch.

8220;I8217;ve put in some good and some average performances but the one thing I was lacking, which is a big part of my game, was a goal. It was a relief to get off the mark. It8217;s been step by step but in the last couple of games I8217;ve played a lot more and it8217;s always nice when a manager shows a lot of faith in you.8221; Reuters
