The Gymkhana ground here had a surprise visitor on Thursday when out-of-favour English batsman Owais Shah was found working on his technique under the guidance of Mohammed Azharuddin.
8216;8216;Pad up8217;8217;, barked the former Indian captain, and Shah obediently went to face a selection of Hyderabad Ranji bowlers including former Test player, left-arm spinner Venkatapathy Raju. 8216;8216;You are batting well, play freely,8217;8217; Azhar commented as Shah faced the combo.
Why did Shah choose Azhar, and Hyderabad to iron out his flaws? 8216;8216;I needed to improve my game and technique, so I thought it would be a good idea to learn a few things from Azhar,8217;8217; Shah said.
Shah, who played the last of his 10 ODIs during the 2002-03 VB Series, said that though he is not in contention for England8217;s tour of the West Indies.
