VADODARA, JAN 31: Republic Day was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety at the ONGC pavilion here on January 26. The programme commenced with hoisting of the Tricolour by N Lal, Executive Director, Western Region. It was followed by a march past by the security guards, students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Baroda High School, scouts and guides and the NCC. A drill and a cultural programme was presented by the students of ONGC Kendriya Vidyalaya, besides a drawing contest for children.

The highlight of the celebrations was the presentation of CMD’s awards. A T Kali and A K Sood received the manager of the year award, P Jaiman, H S Prasad and Narayani Mahil received the professional of the year award, while B K Das, Vivek Bhalla, Anil K Garg and R S Narayani received the young executive of the year award from the ONGC Western Region.

The technical of the year award was presented to J A Patel, J A Vyas, Tejas Mehta, Har Prasad, Harish Patel, N A Shah, K M Rohit, P B Gaikwad and K P Patel. The team of Alok Joshi, N S Rao, Gautam Mandal and Anupam Agarwal also received a Board of Directors’ Award. R Jha, K Karmakar and A Banerjee also received the CMD award for meritorious award.

Blankets Given: The ONGC Mahila Samiti visited the Blind School at Pratapnagar on January 26 and distributed woollen blankets and sweets to the inmates.

Science Exhibition: ONGC displayed various models related to the exploration and petroleum industry at the Science Fair exhibition organised by the Faculty of Science, M S University, which was held on January 30 and 31. Besides a visual display of the activities of ONGC, a working model of a mobile desert rig was also exhibited.

Cricket tournament: The final match of the 26th ONGC Inter-Regional Cricket Tournament, held in Ankleshwar, was played between ONGC Eastern Region and Western Region on January 24. While six teams representing various projects of ONGC and the headquarters participated in the tournament, ONGC Eastern Region won the tournament.

Fortnight ends: The oil conservation fortnight concluded at the Regional office on January 29 with A Mazumdar, General Manager (Instt) and B S Momi, General Manager (E&T) giving away prizes to winners of various contests held during the fortnight.
