Minister for Shipping, Road Transport & Highways T R Baalu did not take kindly to the Leader of Opposition L K Advani pointing out how road development had suffered under the UPA. So as soon as the lunch recess was announced by the Speaker, Baalu contacted Transport Bhavan and ordered his office to immediately rustle up a worthy defence. Some statistical jugglery later, Baalu insisted the UPA had scored higher than the NDA on the highway front.
