I read whenever I have the time to. At the moment, I am reading The Empty Mirror by Ianwillen Vande Wetering, which is a book on Zen Buddhism. I had always been curious about Zen philosophy and had wanted to find out what the Zen experience is all about. The book is interesting and explores the manner in which Zen masters in a monastery approach their life. I like reading non-fiction which has an underlining philosophic meaning to it because it makes for thought-provoking reading.
I am also reading Shobha De8217;s autobiography, Selective Memory. I find that while she has dealt with a lot of people, the book does not really give an insight into her personality. It is full of gossipy bits which do not hold interest. She has cleverly omitted points about herself which would lead to a more revealing picture of her personality. So the book is really no big deal. I also do read fiction, especially that which is elevating and philosophical.
