Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly is all set to open a new innings. Come Durga Puja and he would throw open the gates of his restaurant — The Food Pavilion — at Park Street in Kolkata. At a press conference here today, Ganguly said the four-storey food court would be inaugurated on October 19, coinciding with the first day of the festival. It would be run by Abhisek Entertainment and Foods Private Limited, a company in which the Indian captain has huge stakes.‘‘It’s not merely my name. I am involved in this project in a big way,’’ Ganguly said.CEO of the project, Kanishka Mazumdar, said several Bollywood stars would be present for the inauguration but refused to divulge the details. ‘‘We want to keep people in suspense,’’ he said.The Indian captain said the restaurant was a ‘‘dream come true’’ for him. ‘‘I always had plans to set up a restaurant in Kolkata but because of my schedule I could not do much. Then, my friends came forward and we went ahead with this. I hope it will be a successful venture,’’ Ganguly said.‘‘We left no stones unturned .I hope people will appreciate the food as well as the ambience,’’ he added.A special attraction at the restaurant would be a lounge bar with Ganguly’s cricket memorabilia on display. ‘‘We will have trophies and awards given to him and also various things related to his cricket career,’’ Mazumdar said. There are plans to open branches of the restaurant in Mumbai and Bangalore too, he added.Each storey of the restaurant and the food items would draw their names from cricket.
