NEW DELHI, AUG 21: BJP Today sought to downplay Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s move to convene a Chief Ministers’ Conference to discuss the 11th Finance Commission recommendations saying it had “no differences” with the TDP, nor has it disuaded any of its Chief ministers from attending the meeting.
“The BJP has not given instructions to its (party-ruled States) Chief Ministers not to attend the meeting, convened by Chandrababu Naidu. We have left it to the States to take a decision in this regard,” party spokesman Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here.
The conference, convened by Naidu, is not political in nature and no party has taken any stand on it, he said adding, “This is not a partisan issue but a developmental one.”
Asked whether there were any differences between the BJP and the TDP on the 11th Finance Commission Report, Naidu said, “There is no controversy and no differences between the TDP and the BJP. The perceptions of States are different. We have not taken a stand and each State may have their own perception.”
When the new States — Uttaranchal, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh — are formed, he said the party would stake the claim for Chief ministership of Uttaranchal and Jharkhand where it has the requisite strength but not for Chhattisgarh.
